Jet Ski explodes at Lake Gaston; 3 teens suffer minor injuries

Posted August 30

— Three teenagers suffered minor injuries Saturday morning when a personal watercraft exploded on Lake Gaston in Warren County, North Carolina Wildlife Commission officials said.

The watercraft exploded at about 11:45 a.m., and the teenagers were ejected into the water. All of the teens were wearing life jackets.

The father of one of the teens took them to the hospital as a precaution, officials said.

No charges will be filed in the incident. It’s unclear why the watercraft caught fire.

After the explosion, the watercraft floated into a dock and caught the dock on fire. No other injuries were reported.
