JC Raulston Arboretum plans second egg hunt

Posted March 18, 2013

JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh is planning its second annual egg hunt, but this isn't the mad-dash-for-candy variety.

Instead, visitors will look for large, brightly colored eggs hidden across the arboretum. Collect the letters on the hidden eggs. Once you've found all of the eggs, you can unscramble the letters to find a secret word. Go to the visitors center during regular business hours to tell them the word and get a small prize.

The egg hunt runs from March 23 to March 31, which happens to be Easter Sunday. The arboretum, 4415 Beryl Rd., is open 8 a .m. to 8 p.m. You can start your search at the visitors center where you can pick up an answer sheet to start your hunt.

This is free and self-guided. The hunt isn't tricky. It's designed for all ages. A friend did this last year and she said her kids had a blast. Click here for details.

You can find this and many other Easter activities on our Easter events guide.
