HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. — April, the New York giraffe whose pregnancy has been watched closely for months, has finally given birth.

The Harpursville, New York animal park where April lives has a live stream of the event.

April gave birth to the new calf just before 10 a.m.

The new calf is 15-year-old April's fourth but the first for father, Oliver, according to the park. When it's born, the calf will weigh about 150 pounds and stand around 6 feet tall.

The park will hold a contest to name the calf.

More than 1.2 million people were tuned in to the park's stream on Saturday morning as the much-anticipated birth began. April meandered around her pen as park staff walked in and out.
