Scattered storms could threaten holiday weekend plans
From the beach to the mountains, holiday weekend plans could be dodging scattered storms.
Posted — UpdatedOn Friday, temperatures eclipsed 90 degrees as patchy clouds lingered, but the region is looking at the possibility of more rain, though the best chances of thunderstorms will be from counties around Raleigh and to the south and east.
“It looks like most of us will be dry with a few showers in our northwest counties,” WRAL Meteorologist Greg Fishel said. “Tomorrow, a fairly quiet morning and then the showers and thunderstorms start to pop up in the afternoon.”
Fishel said the highest chance for precipitation and storms on Saturday will occur during the late-afternoon and evening hours.
Temperatures will hover in the low-70s overnight but return to the 90s by Saturday afternoon.
“I really think that the most active time, where we see the most coverage and perhaps the heaviest amounts, is going to be Sunday and on in to July 4,” Fishel said.
