Goldsboro, N.C. — A 29-year-old man arrested Friday on charges of statutory rape met the victim online, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said that James Ray Broadway Jr., of 204 Krystal Circle, communicated with the victim through the Internet and text messaging. The victim, who was younger than 16, did not know Broadway before meeting online, investigators said.
Broadway faces charges of felony statutory rape, felony statutory sexual offense and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $100,000 bond Friday.
