Raeford, N.C. — Authorities are hoping a $20,000 reward will generate new leads in their investigation into the slaying of a Hoke County High School student more than a year ago.
The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office posted the reward Tuesday in the case of DeAndre “Papa” Ricketts, 16, who was shot and killed during a birthday party he attended in Raeford on Oct. 13, 2013.
Investigators said gunfire erupted about 2 a.m. during the party, which drew more than 100 people.
“Law enforcement made previous attempts to talk to people at the party and track down other leads,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “No arrests have been made and the murder investigation is still ongoing.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Capt. John Kivett at 910-878-1216 or 910-624-5562.
