MORGANTON, N.C. — Authorities captured an 18-year-old Monday who had escaped from a minimum-security unit from a prison in Morganton, the state Department of Correction said.
Alexander Cornelius Flowers was captured shortly after 8:30 a.m. after escaping from the Western Youth Institution hours earlier, DOC spokesman Keith Acree said.

Flowers is serving an 8-10 month prison sentence after being convicted in January of larceny of a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny in Stokes County.

According to the Department of Correction Offender Public Information online database, he is scheduled for release in December.
