Inmate attacks officer at Wayne jail

An inmate at the Wayne County Detention Center faces an additional assault charge after ambushing an officer at that facility.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — An inmate at the Wayne County Detention Center faces an additional assault charge after ambushing an officer at that facility.

Christin Ray Godette, 17, is awaiting trial on four counts of first-degree burglary and three counts of assault inflicting serious injury, sexual assault and larceny.

He jumped Detention Officer John Russell Beamon in the day room during a routine headcount.

Beamon received medical treatment for injuries inflicted by Godette. Godette got a charge of assault inflicting serious injury on a detention facility employee and saw his bond raised to $25,000.
