Raleigh, N.C. — At least two people were injured in wreck at the intersection of Yates Mill Pond Road and Millrace Trail in Wake County on Thursday evening, according to the state Highway Patrol.
State troopers said the wreck happened when an SUV crossed the center line and hit a car traveling in the opposite direction on the two-lane road.
Trooper Ceon Cayco said the front ends of both vehicles were heavily damaged.
Witnesses said the back end of the SUV appeared to leave the ground when the vehicles collided. The driver of the car was knocked unconscious.
The drivers of both cars were taken to WakeMed Hospital for treatment. Their names and conditions have not been released.
The wreck was under investigation. No charges have been filed.
Cindy Stephenson, whose home in on the curve on Yates Mill Pond Road, said she was standing in her front yard when the wreck happened.
She said that stretch of road has seen a lot of wrecks, mostly fender benders, because people drive too quickly for the curve.
"There is a lot of traffic on this road. People are flying," Stephenson said.
