Important details on Harris Teeter ZVR digital coupon shut-down

Posted October 6, 2014

As we have been talking about since this summer, the Harris Teeter ZVR digital coupon program is shutting down. Here are the confirmed details from corporate with the shut down dates and transition information for the new digital coupon program.

If you are signed up for the e-Vic program, you should also receive an e-mail from Harris Teeter with the following information on October 2.

"Recently, Google informed us that it was shutting down its Zavers service which allowed retailers like Harris Teeter to issue electronic coupons. Harris Teeter is transitioning to another service provider, and during that time, our e-coupons program will be temporarily unavailable.

e-VIC coupons Program Transition Timeline

· Nov. 20, 2014: Last day customers can clip e-coupons, available until 11:59pm

· Nov. 30, 2014: Last day customers can use saved e-coupons, available until 11:59pm

· Dec. 1, 2014 – Jan. 13, 2015: e-coupons will be unavailable

· Jan. 14, 2015: e-coupons re-launch

When we re-launch, getting started again will be as quick & easy as it was before. Unfortunately, however, customers will only be able to view and clip up to 20 coupons at a time. This is a temporary limit until January 2016 when the program will be running at full capacity."

At this time, I am still waiting to hear back from corporate about "stacking" paper coupons with the new digital coupons.  Do not get your hopes up. I will be shocked if the new system allows stacking.  As soon as I have confirmation, I will let you know.

The new digital coupon portal that Harris Teeter will be using is run by You Technology Brand Services. Kroger bought You tech in February 2014.

tldavids - I just posted about the new Publix coupon policy changes. A lot of the media coverage you are seeing about it is hyped up. It will not affect us negatively. Most of our grocery stores are more strict than the new Publix coupon policy so we are in good shape. They were allowing people to get away with using a ton of coupons and competitor coupons and clearing shelves, which our other area stores won't allow anyway. With the new Publix policy, they are limiting shoppers to 8 multiples of the same coupon - which I think is great compared to other area stores! You can see the info I just posted here:

I'm with apps move to new servers every day with little or no interruption...this is about HT, not the provider. My HT has lots of new mgmt faces on the floor now, I assume due to the Kroger deal...and I'm now having more issues with mis-pricing. I've been loyal to HT for many years, but if they no longer have deals I'll have to shop at the new Walmart grocery nearby, as much as I hate to...the everyday prices are just better.

don't get too excited about Publix, just saw on tv business channel that Publix is going to be restricting use of coupons to try to combat the extreme couponers.

My husband says I'll adjust with all the changes coming at Harris Teeter. I wonder if he realizes how much I really save there. Anyway I'm getting what I can while I can. And then see what happens. I do hope there is a Super Doubles sometime soon...

Watchhillgirl- I was also just thinking how glad I am that Publix is coming. And I'm so sorry about your sister :-(

I have to agree with SMOLDER13m, I'm in Garner super close to the Lowes Food on Timber/Aversboro and the Aldi opening next month, which also means a good 20-25 minutes away from Harris Teeter. If we lose stacking and doubles, it'll be mostly Aldi for me.

I got that email too. Very bummed seeing ZVR go, and the lack of a good "rollout" of the new program.

With 2014 era technology... I find it hard to believe they can't come up with a system that only allows you to preview/save 20 coupons at a time. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the end for the good ol ZVR-days sadly :( I Hope I'm wrong!

watchhillgirl - I am so very sorry about your sister's passing. My heart goes out to you and your whole family. I am so glad Publix has done the right thing.

I will really hate it if HT stops doubling. Will be interesting to see what happens with Publix coming here. On a side note, I just want to tell you how wonderful Publix is. My sister worked for Publix, and suddenly passed away on Sept 1. Publix has been fantastic with everything. Not only the store she worked for, but the corporate office too. For anyone looking for a job Publix is a top notch company that treats their employees like family. They have great benefits- medical, stock and all others. I have been so impressed with them, that I will be going to their store here. My family (most live in FL now) love shopping at Publix, so it will be interesting to see how they do here. I am sold on Publix and will frequent them.

Nanee Lion - that's funny because a dept. manager (at your same HT I am guessing) told me today that he was told there would be one more super doubles before the holidays in November, but did not have a date. Will be interesting to see.

I am with all of you - very disappointed to see ZVR's go. The news about Fry's ending doubling is also very disconcerting. I think if Publix was doubling coupons here in NC, HT would be more inclined to continue. But, that is not the case, sadly.

nstutt - I have thought that as well about LF. If HT stops doubling, LF will have no reason to continue either.
