Chapel Hill, N.C. — Il Palio will host a Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner this fall.
Festa Italiana, which will benefit the James Beard Foundation Scholarship Fund, will be held Sept. 14. The chef line-up includes Teddy Diggs and pastry chef Deric McGuffey of Il Palio, Gabe Barker of Pizzeria Mercato in Carrboro, Matt Kelly and Josh DeCarolis of Mothers and Sons in Durham, Brian Canipelli of Cucina 24 in Asheville, Craig Deihl of Artisan Meat Share in Charleston, S.C., Nick Stefanelli of Masseria in Washington, D.C. and James Beard Foundation Award Winner Sarah Grueneberg of Monteverde Restaurant and Pastificio in Chicago.
The meal will also include James Beard Foundation Award-Winning Baker Peter Reinhart of Charlotte, mixologist Bob Peters of The Punch Room in Charlotte and Sommelier Esteban Brunello of Bar Brunello in Durham.
Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. on the Siena Hotel's terrace with hors d'oeuvres created on Sea Island Forge Kettles, games of bocce and a silent auction. Dinner begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a live auction.
