If you happen to find my coupon organizer....

There comes a time in the lives of many couponers, when the unthinkable happens. Yes, I lost my coupon organizer today. I am still in shock so please ignore any incoherent rambling that may occur in this post. Consider this a public service announcement on what not to do with your coupon organizer.

After teaching a lovely group of couponers at the Smithfield Aquatic and Recreation center this afternoon, I headed out to my car loaded down with all the stuff I lug to and from classes. It was quite windy and a storm was approaching so I hurried to get everything into the car. I plopped my beloved coupon organizer on top of my vehicle so I could open the door and then I promptly forgot about it...until a couple hours after I arrived home.

I immediately called the rec. center hoping that some kind soul had found it in the parking lot and returned it to the front desk. No such luck. The nice young lady who answered the phone took my information and promised to call if she found it. After sulking in my office, remembering all the good savings I had enjoyed with my little pink and black 3-ring zipper buddy, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I trekked back the 23.5 miles to the scene of the incident, dragging both of my kids and one of their very patient boyfriends. I figured that 3 additional eyes looking in the ditches along the road would be a good thing. OK, the truth is that I wasn't about to leave my young teen and her boyfriend alone in the house. I'm one of those moms.

By the time we got to the center, it was closed and I had not received a call, so I am fairly certain that they did not find my precious organizer. And we did not find it on the way home. And it POURED during the trip so I am pretty sure that even it we did find it swimming in a ditch somewhere, it would be unsalvageable.

Clearly the moral of the story is: always keep your coupon organizer handcuffed to your wrist, at all times, no matter what.
