Iconic 'Mr. Peanut' mascot has local ties

— The Mr. Peanut mascot is the widely-recognized image of the Planters peanuts. A teenaged boy in 1916 created the original drawings that led to the iconic character. These many years later, his nephew, Bob Slade, of Wake Forest, tells the intriguing story.

    The "local ties" are basically that a nephew of the person who did the original drawing in 1916 live in NC? By this reasoning, Kevin bacon has local ties.
