Ice cream shop looks for lasting location

"We're not popping up in different locations," she said. "We want to go from pop up to permanent."

"I think downtown Raleigh is becoming bigger and more like Charlotte or Atlanta," Suther said. 

The short-term lease offered a great risk-reward ratio for this would-be restaurateur. 

"There are great restaurants that are well-known beside us, so we didn’t feel it was too great of a risk because we are in a great location," she said.

Those other downtown businesses have been welcoming to their summertime neighbor. 

"It’s a great experience, so we really hope they find a permanent place here downtown," said Carla Chirico of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance.

Richard Shuping was indulging in some chocolate/peanut butter on Friday afternoon. "I've eaten lots of ice cream from a lot different places. I love all the local places and this place is really good," he said.

"The peanut butter is really rich. You can tell they made it."

Nine-year-old Trace Howard called the white mint chocolate chip flavor "very close to the best thing in the world."
