Posted October 9, 2013

Ibotta at Food Lion

Starting today, October 9, Ibotta will work at all 1,100+ Food Lion supermarkets. Ibotta will work in store with our automated redemption process so no receipt is needed. An Ibotta user only needs to connect a Food Lion MVP Card in the app under Redeem where you can simply scan your MVP Card, or enter it manually. Once connected, just use your MVP Card at each time you checkout.

How Ibotta works at all other Triangle area stores:

Here are the details from the app download page. The first step is to download the ibotta app from their website.  If you are new to ibotta, you will need to download the app as well.

"Here's how it works:

1. Before shopping, choose your offers. The more you choose, the more cash back you'll earn.

2. Go Shopping. Buy your chosen products at any of the major retailers that Ibotta supports.

3. Take a photo of your receipt. We'll verify your purchases and credit your account right away.

4. Get your cash. Yes, real money, loaded onto your PayPal account or donated to any school in America."

Participating stores: Ibotta works at many retailers including these stores in our area: Harris Teeter, Target, Walmart, Kroger, CVS, Walgreens.

You can increase the amount of your offer by doing different (easy) activities like taking a poll, liking the company on Facebook or reading a recipe.

Once you redeem your first successful offer, you'll receive an extra $5 in your account as part of their referral program!

Like Savingstar.com discounts, the money does not come off at the register. It is deposited into your Paypal account. You will need a Paypal account to get the money. If you prefer, you can also donate the money to a school of your choice.

Big benefit: You can use the ibotta savings in conjunction with manufacturers coupons and savingstar.com e-coupons so you can stack a number of different savings avenues.

If you use ibotta, please share your experiences. This app does require a little extra work as far as taking pictures of the receipts but that doesn't take long at all.

You can find many more details about the program on their website in the Help Center.

step three says to take photo of receipt, but article said you don't have to. I'm confused by reading, but found that it automatically adds next bushiness day if on weekend.

Do you have to have a smartphone to use the Ibotta app? Is it something you can do from a computer?

So happy to hear you don't have to scan the receipts at Food Lion! That's so much work!I hope they will convert the other stores soon. I have been using it since Ibotta first came out and have had no problems with scanning, uploading or receiving my money thru PayPal....great system!

RFB - I agree - love that you get confirmation so quickly with Ibotta!

Done thanks for the info!! All linked up!

Faye- I really like the system, just used it again for the .75 off orange juice. It's easier to track than Saving Star (which seems like I haven't gotten much of what I've qualified for). I like that they get back to you in a day or so to confirm it all! :-)

I just completed linking my MVP card to my Ibotta, that was rather simple, just took time to focus in on the card and I needed good lighting.

RFB - now that they are transitioning to not needing to scan the receipt, it will be even easier! I hope they offer that option at the other stores soon.
