I-85 North lanes closed in Butner due to crash

Posted November 24, 2009

— Most lanes of Interstate 85 North near mile marker 191 in Granville County were closed Tuesday morning due to an overturned tractor-trailer.

Motorists should expect delays in the area until about 10 a.m.

The driver was transporting 24,000 pounds of beef in the refrigerated truck when it went off the road, hit a bridge and turned on its side, authorities said.

The driver, whose name was not released, was taken to Granville Medical Center with minor injuries.

    Where's the beef?

Thinks it's about time to update this story? Surely they have cleared the trailer that was on it's side by now. There's nothing worse than "stale" traffic reports.

Just about every morning that I hear a traffic report about an accident and then I'll pass the site 5-10 minutes later and there is no sign that there was even a recent accident there...no LEO, no debris, no tow truck, etc..

Glad I didn't change my route to a longer, slower, less convenient one. Go figure!
