AS TO WHO WILL UTLIMATELY HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SHODDY WORK IN ALL PROBABILITY THE TAXPAYERS OF THIS STATE WILL END UP HAVING TO BITE THE BULETT AGAIN IF NOT FOR ALL OF THE COST PROBABLY AT LEAST PART OF THE COST WILL UTLIMATELY BE BORNE BY THE TAXPAYERS OF THIS STATE. YOU WOULD THINK THAT SOONER OR LATER THAT THERE WOULD BE SUCH AN OUTCRY COMMING FROM THE PEOPLE AN THE TAXPAYERS OF THIS STATE OVER THESE KINDS OF BAD SHODDY WORK BEING DONE BY THE NCDOT AN IT'S CONTRACTORS THAT IT WOULD BLOW THE ROOF OF OF THE GOVERNOR MANSION BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO MUCH POLITICS ENVOLVED IN THESE KIND OF HIGHWAY CONTRACTS FOR THAT TO EVER HAPPEN. I AM GUESSING THAT THE GOVERNOR JUST CONDONE THESE KIND OF MESSED UP HIGHWAY PROJECTS PERIOD AN GOES ABOUT HER MERRY WAY THANK YOU

THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA IS IN DESPARTE NEED OF GETTING AWAY FROM THE USE OF PRIVATE ENGINEERING FIRMS ON THESE HIGHWAY PROJECTS. BECASUE IN MOST CASES THEIR PERSONNEL ARE UNQUALITIFIED AN HAVE NO CARING ABOUT THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE NCDOT STATE HIGHWAY SPECEFICIATIONS. THEY ARE THERE ONLY TO PROVIDE THE CONTRACTORS WITH A FORM OF POLITICAL DEREGULATION JUST SO THE NCDOT CAN SAY THAT THEY HAD AN INSPECTOR ON THE PROJECT BUT WHAT GOOD IS IT IF THE INSPECTORS DONT KNOW WHAT THE HE-- THAT THEY ARE SUPPOSELY LOOKING AT IN THE FIRST PLACE. THIS COMPANY HAS DONE BAD WORK ON PROVUIOUS NCDOT HIGHWAY PROEJCT THAT ENDED UP BEING MESSED UP THEY SHOULD BE BARRED FROM BEING ABLE TO BID ON HIGHWAY PROJECT IN NORTH CAROLINA FROM NOW ON PERIOD. WHERE ARE YOU NOW MR CONTI THANK YOU

    don't leave me hangin'!

  • Slip Kid Sep 23, 2009

I wonder who'll pay for the repairs for the shoddy work they'll likely find? Oh, that's right, us taxpayers.

You know I really think that everyone in Raleigh show juts be quite and suck up a little inconvence as far as roads go. How would you like to drive less than ten miles to get home and it takes you an hour to get their. Let see our state government got $687Million grant and is going for $ 1.0Billion so Raeligh can have it's next leg of I-540, while Fayetteville is only getting enough money to do the infrastructure extension of I-295 the paving will not be done until the end of 2013. In the mean time we are getting more people with BRAC aroun 2012 and the road systems will not be able to handle it and why becasue the whinners in Raleigh and Charlotte have o have their roads first. Oh by the way I-295 has been in the planning stages since the 1950's and at the rate they are going the will just barely meet there conpletion deadlind of 2050 - 100 years what is wrong with this picture. Oh I forget Raeligh needs the roads first. Give me a BREAK and suck it up.

My "problem" is the headlines implies 540 is closed.

In actuality, it's only partial closure and only at night.

Now, is that what they call a correct and concise headline at NCST8?

  • NCStatePack Sep 23, 2009

It doesn't say "ALL I-540 lanes temporarily closed for inspection". What's your problem?

    Another SENSATIONALIST headline by WRAL.

How about "SOME" lanes? You make it sound like I can't get home!
