RALEIGH, N.C. — Interstate 440 West in Wake County will be reduced to one lane between the I-40 East/I-440 West split and Poole Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.

The closure is part of a $3.4 million project funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to resurface a 2.5-mile section of I-440 from I-40 to the U.S. 64/264 Bypass.

Motorists on I-440 West will be shifted into the far right lane. In addition, the ramp from I-40 West to I-440 West will be closed.

Motorists traveling on I-40 West needing to access I-440 West should use the following detour:

  • I-40 West to Jones Sausage Road (Exit 303) to Rock Quarry Road to New Hope Road to Poole Road to I-440 West.

Traffic heading to a concert Saturday evening at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek is expected to add to the delays associated with the project. To avoid congestion, motorists on I-40 West wanting to access I-440 should use the following detour between 5 p.m. and midnight:

  • I-40 West to I-440 East
