Posted Updated

CLAYTON, N.C. — Crews working on the U.S. 70 Bypass in Clayton will close one eastbound lane of Interstate 40 between U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 306) and N.C. Highway 42 (Exit 312) from 7 p.m. Thursday through noon Friday, the state Department of Transportation said.

NCDOT warned that motorists should expect heavy delays during the closure and urged them to look for alternate routes through the 6-mile area on the Wake-Johnston county line.

The crews will be paving in the area.
