Durham, N.C. — There was no heat or air conditioning Tuesday afternoon at Grayson’s Café at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham.
An air conditioning unit serving the cafe malfunctioned just before 11 a.m., sending smoke into the cafe and forcing out patrons and employees. No one was injured.
Museum staff turned the air conditioner off, eliminating the threat, a spokeswoman said.
The cafe reopened without heat or cooling while museum staff continued an inspection of the unit.
