Hurricanes' Summerfest runs through Saturday with team practices, more

The Carolina Hurricanes is gearing up for the 2016-17 season with a Summerfest Celebration this week. Starting today, Wednesday, the team will open practices to the public. On Saturday, there will be more activities including inflatables, autograph sessions, an equipment sale and more.

This week's events are part of the Hurricanes' Prospects Development Camp, which features all of the Hurricanes' 2016 draft class and other top prospects. They include first-round picks Jake Bean and Julien Gauthier.

Sessions will be open to the public at the PNC Arena with free parking and admission. Food and beverages also will be for sale. Team practices open to the public are 5:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday.

On Saturday, the Summerfest Celebration starts at 10 a.m. Parking and admission, again, are free. Everything happens inside the arena. There will be a final practice, autograph session, more than 20 inflatables, games, giveaways, hockey games and more. Discounted concessions include food starting at $1, drinks starting at $2 and beer starting at $4.
