Hundreds of volunteers search for missing Hope Mills teen

South View High School student Danielle Locklear left her grandparents’ home on Trencholm Lane in Hope Mills' Fox Meadow/Brook Ridge subdivisions on March 11 to visit a friend. She never arrived. Her grandfather contacted police the next day.

"That's my baby. She is sweet and loving. Just trying to find her. We just need her to come home," said Locklear's mother, Rowna Fowler.

Fowler and dozens of other family members joined about 400 volunteers at South View High School for the search.

"When something like this happens, everybody bans together," said volunteer Tina Turner. 

After more than a week, few clues have surfaced. Investigators have searched an area by a creek that runs near the neighborhood, a local hangout for teenagers.

Police are conscious of Danielle's age, and said she may have a wider circle of contacts than her parents realize. 

"There is a lot of evidence that we are sorting through. Nothing is pointing in a particular direction that would lead us to make a conclusion right now," said Hope Mills Police Chief, Joel Acciardo.

Volunteers were told Saturday to search for anything relevant, specifically a pair of Ugg boots, a Nokia phone and a Pandora bracelet, all items police said the teen likely had on her the night she disappeared. 

Danielle, is bi-racial and has black hair and green eyes. She stands 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 150 to 160 pounds.
