Hundreds of toys donated to children affected by tragedy
Chiropractic patients at Revolution Chiropractic in Raleigh collected 400 stuffed animals to donate to two local fire departments.
Posted — UpdatedThe Stony Hill Fire Department and the Bay Leaf Fire Department will distribute the toys to children traumatized by fires and other emergencies.
"When children are able to clutch a bear and hug on a bear and they know that the bear affords a certain amount of safety, the whole situation goes from something really bad to a whole lot better," said Jonathan Hans with the Bay Leaf Fire Department.
Children helped bag and box the animals in hopes that the cuddly creatures will give firefighters a friendlier face when tragedy strikes.
"The donation of a gift is a very personal thing and this really demonstrates how much care there is in the community," said Robert Nordman, Stony Hill Fire Prevention Officer.
