RALEIGH, N.C. — Chiropractic patients at Revolution Chiropractic in Raleigh collected 400 stuffed animals to donate to children affected by tragedy across the Triangle.

The Stony Hill Fire Department and the Bay Leaf Fire Department will distribute the toys to children traumatized by fires and other emergencies.

"When children are able to clutch a bear and hug on a bear and they know that the bear affords a certain amount of safety, the whole situation goes from something really bad to a whole lot better," said Jonathan Hans with the Bay Leaf Fire Department.

Children helped bag and box the animals in hopes that the cuddly creatures will give firefighters a friendlier face when tragedy strikes.

"The donation of a gift is a very personal thing and this really demonstrates how much care there is in the community," said Robert Nordman, Stony Hill Fire Prevention Officer.
