Roanoke Rapids, N.C. — A complete human skeleton was found at an abandoned Roanoke Rapids building Tuesday afternoon.
Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Chuck Hasty said a public works employee was working on N.C. Highway 158 near Spring Street and Carter Street just before 3 p.m. when the skeleton was located.
Hasty said the East Carolina University School of Anthropology and the medical examiner have been called in to handle the case.
Hasty said authorities were unable to immediately determine if the remains belonged to a man or a woman.
