FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder Friday in connection with the death of Marcella Anne Thompson, police said.

According to police, Pierre Rouchant Lowe, 38, was charged at the Cumberland County Detention Center, where he was being held on unrelated charges.

A man walking along a rail line near Winslow Street and Southern Avenue in Fayetteville discovered Thompson's skull and other bones on Nov. 15.

Thompson, 39, was last seen leaving her home on Sept. 23 to run errands.

According to police, Lowe was seen driving Thompson's car, and led police on a chase before he crashed the vehicle.

Thompson's remains were sent to a medical examiner for an autopsy, and police haven't released a cause of death.
