— Durham police are investigating after human remains were discovered Sunday in a wooded area near West Point on the Eno Park.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a man flagged down a patrol officer and said he found remains in the woods off of North Roxboro Road.

Officers said the remains were human and appeared to have been in the woods for a long time. The person's race, sex, age or cause of death had not been determined late Sunday.

Anyone with information about the remains was asked to call the Criminal Investigations Homicide Unit at 919-560-4440 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.

Professor - I have to add that it doesn't say anywhere in the article that this person was murdered - just dead. May not be a murder at all - could be a hiker who had a heart attack or something equally as unfortunate.

Krille - I was wondering the same thing. It would be such a blessing to her parents to have some closure although this is certainly NOT the outcome they would have wanted. I guess we'll just have to wait for the autopsy to come out - as pointed out, there are many others it could be.

haggis basher- You're right...there are lots of missing people. The Eno is approx 30 minutes from her house. The night she went missing her husband disappeared (per his father) for 2 hours. So, it's possible. But, it's just as possible that it's not her. Forsenics will tell. May that person rest in peace!! Seems to be a lot of killing going on now-a-days!

May the lawmen find the person (s) who killed this person and then hopefully he will get life in prison without parole. So much killing shows that someone need Jesus in their life.
