— Remains found in some Raleigh woods on Tuesday are those of an adult, police said Wednesday.

The remains were found around 5:30 p.m. near a lightly used pathway off of Hodges Street and Atlantic Avenue. The remains will be taken to the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the identity and to establish a cause of death, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

No other information was released. Investigators planned to return to the scene Wednesday to collect possible evidence.

That is part of the Crabtree Creek Greenway, not Walnut Creek, and I wouldn't classify it as "lightly traveled" either, although there are certainly more heavily traveled sections. Although the story doesn't make it clear that the "lightly used pathway" is in fact the Greenway. They could mean one of the paths leading in to the Greenway, like some that connect nearby housing developments. Those might be considered "lightly traveled." But it was the Greenway itself that was blocked off on Tuesday. I and several others had to move off the Greenway to Hodges Street.

That's the Walnut Creek greenway and it probably is lightly used in that area.

Are they talking about the greenway? I don't think that can be considered a "lightly used pathway".

"So the GOLO brain trust had it all wrong once again. It was a human."

if you read the comments, noone was actually trying to argue that it wasn't human bones. only that it was a silly "news" article when the only information was "bones were found, they're trying to figure out if it's human".

Once again, WRAL was the first to report, but the last to update the story with actual information. Their headlines usually tell the story better than the article.

"Honestly, this is a headline news story? Is there reason to believe it's human bones?"

No kidding. Probably because it gets more attention as only the local media can generate.

closure... will be if they figure out what happened. i may never have closure from the death of my husband, because from july 2009 till now, they have not found the person that killed my husband. may never find them, so therefore... i will never have complete closure. thankfully, we know a little about what happened, but not the who.
it will definitely give them comfort, but until all they have all the facts, the closure part might not happen.
