FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police on Friday found a decomposed body behind a Fayetteville apartment complex.

Someone using a path that connects the Eastside Green Apartments complex, at 708 Duggins Way, with nearby businesses found the remains near the wood line at about 4 p.m., police said.

The body has been sent to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and to determine the cause of death.

Police are reviewing missing person reports as part of their investigation.
