HUGE list of gift card bonus offers!

If you are planning to buy gift cards for the holidays this year, make sure you read this long list of gift card bonus offers from pocketyourdollars.com! Basically, when you buy their gift cards, you get an additional gift card or gift certificate to spend. You usually have a specific window of time when you can redeem the bonus gift certificate so make sure you read the fine print on these.

If you have a teenager, you probably know about Rue21. I went by yesterday to purchase a gift card. I bought a $25 gift card and got a bonus $5 coupon to use after Christmas!!

The activation fees on Visa, MC, Amex are, IIRC, $3.95 for a $25, $4.95 for a $50, $5.95 for a $100. If you get 5 cents off per gallon (it's 5 cents, right?) for every 100 points normally, then 4X would be 20 cents, which means that to *break even* on the deal, if you bought the $100 card with the $5.95 activation fee, you'd need to get 29.75 gallons of gas. Now, I *may* be misremembering, but I beleive the discount limit is UPTO 25 gallons, and really, who has a tank that big anyway?

If you were going to buy the cards anyway as gifts (I prefer to just give cash, but to each his own), then getting something back is better than nothing back. Watch Staples for deals on Visa, MC, Amex. They did a MC deal in October, buy $100 w/ $5.95 fee, get $10 Staples GC, and for 2 weeks in November they did buy $100 w/ $5.95 fee, get $15 Staples GC.

Ruby Tuesday does a $15 bonus card when you buy a $50 gift card! I think that is excellent and my parents love to go to ruby Tuesday for the salad bar!

Ihop has $5 discount on next purchase (exp. 1/31/13) when you purchase $25 gift card at the restaurant.

Kroger has been offering 4X gas points WYB certain gift cards this week. Does anyone know if they charge an activation fee for MC, Visa, and Amex gift cards? I thought if they don't, I might buy some to use as cash. -jdouglas13

I think it's $3.50 activation fee...

Bruegger's has a promotion that if you buy a $25 gift card, you get $5 in bakery bucks good Jan 1- through the end of March.
