How To: Make Borax slime

Obviously (I hope!), this is not something to eat. But it is a fun activity that I did with my six-year-old on a rainy day this week.

Here's a fun activity that I did with my six-year-old on a rainy day this week. We had fun making this quick video, which I thought I'd share here. (My daughter insisted on the words at the very end of the video once it's all made).

This turns out a gooey mess, which we've made before. But it's always fun. A recipe that I picked up from Marbles Kids Museum reminded me how much my kids love doing this.

Borax Slime
1 cup warm water
1 cup liquid glue
1 cup warm water

1 tablespoon Borax powdered soap

2 bowls
mixing spoon

food coloring (optional)

In one bowl, combine one cup of warm water with the liquid glue. (This is where you'd add some food coloring if you wanted to add color. Just a few drops will work). Combine the mixture.

In another bowl, add the second cup of warm water to the Borax. Mix until the powder is dissolved.

Pour the Borax mixture into the glue mixture. Stir with a spoon. It's going to get stringy. Then mix it around with your hands for a couple of minutes. Pull the big ball of slime out of the bowl (some liquid will be left in there) and have fun!

We play with it on a huge cutting board. This will store in a plastic bag for about a month.
