The rope broke and wrapped around his neck - breaking his neck and severing his spinal cord. A life vest would not have made any difference. And yes, he could swim. It was a freak accident that took a great guy from this world.

Ohhhhhh, riding a tube behind a boat. Not tubing - as in down a river on a lazy afternoon. Was wondering how someone could possibly die doing the real tubing.

This is tragic. Someone lost a child, a friend, a loved one. Whether he knew how to swim or not doesnt matter now. I'm a certified master SCUBA diver, however it doesnt matter, if I'm on the water in a boat or just riding something towed behind it... I'm wearing a life vest. I've learned enough thru training that you cant swim as well as you think. Again, this is sad. Please people, be careful. The water can be unforgiving.

"Doing follish things causes one to loose their life. My condolences to the family and friends."

Follish should be foolish. Loose should be lose. How do you mess that up and spell condolences right?

Wildcat -- You don't think this was god's will?

"Did he have a life jacket on? Did he even know how to swim?"

Wildcat, life jackets and swimming lessons wouldn't matter if it was god's will that he died. It would matter, however, if man had control over his own destiny.

Tubing like anything on the water can be dangerous if not done safely.

Be safe when out on any water. This was tragic and I hope others learn from it. Did he have a life jacket on? Did he even know how to swim?
