HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives charged a Hope Mills man with soliciting a child for sex via the Internet.

Deputies arrested Jason Colton England, 24, of 3151 Round Grove Place, at a shopping center after he agreed to meet a person he thought was a 13-year-old child, officials said.

England was communicating with a sheriff’s detective posing as a child, authorities said.

Deputies arrested him at the pre-arranged meeting place and charged him with soliciting a child by computer.

Authorities took England to the Cumberland County Detention Center and later released him under a $5,000 unsecured bond.

He was scheduled to have a first court appearance at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the detention center courtroom.
