Hope Mills Man Charged in Soldier's Slaying

A Hope Mills man was charged Tuesday will killing a Fort Bragg soldier in the home of the man's estranged wife, authorities said.

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — A Hope Mills man was charged Tuesday will killing a Fort Bragg soldier in the home of the man's estranged wife, authorities said.

Army Capt. Paul Burton Miner, 38, was found dead inside a home at 3909 Goforth Drive, in the Legion Hills subdivision of Hope Mills, at about 5 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

No information on the cause of death was released.

Jamez Jeremiah Mellion, 24, of 3909 Goforth Drive, was charged with murder in the case. He is estranged from his wife and isn't living in the Goforth Drive residence, authorities said.

Mellion was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday.
