RALEIGH, N.C. — Volunteer organization Activate Good will be commemorating 9/11 with a Day of Service. Residents, community groups and businesses around the Triangle are welcome to participate in Activate Raleigh 2013!

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, members of the community will be paying it forward in dozens of volunteer opportunities. Projects include spending time with seniors at nursing homes, beautifying neighborhood parks, assembling care packages and many more. The goal is to have over 1,500 volunteers participate in the Day of Service!

For a full list of volunteer opportunities and to register, visit the Activate Raleigh home page. You can participate as an individual or as a group.
Rounding out the day of service is the Evening Commemoration event at Red Hat Amphitheater. In addition to more service projects, such as a canned food drive and writing letters for troops overseas, there will be live music and speeches from Raleigh mayor Nancy McFarlane and Activate Good members.
Consider donating your time on a day when putting others first matters. If you can't make it to Activate Raleigh, don't forget about Activate Good's annual Couture for a Cause Fashion Show coming up in November!
