RALEIGH, N.C. — A homeowner and a firefighter were injured late Tuesday night during a fire at a Wake County residence, authorities said.

Firefighters responded around 11:45 p.m. to a house on Loon Lane. When firefighters arrived on scene, they said flames were burning through the roof.

The man who lived in the house was trying to put the fire out by himself, officials said. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

A firefighter injured his ankle when he fell through the floor, but his injuries were considered minor, as well.

The house was heavily damaged, officials said, and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
