Homeless man charged with sex crimes in Cumberland County

Posted January 27, 2010

— A homeless man was charged with the statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl in Cumberland County, detectives said Wednesday.

Willie Lee Holmes, 61, also faces charges of incest and taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Investigators say the sexual encounters took place between July 27 and Aug. 8 at a residence where Holmes once lived.

Holmes, who was extradited from Virginia on unrelated charges, was being held under a $750,000 bond in the Cumberland County Detention Center Wednesday.

I hate to say it, but you're right. So many of these submitters say they believe in the Constitution, but that seems to be based on a selective application. I think one person summed it up very well when he said, "His name is willie." That's a "veiled" comment that says a lot about how personal views and justice are implemented in society. Unfortunately, I feel the same way about this perpetrator. I don't think the correct punishment will be given. Our criminal justice system is too accused friendly; the victim is totally ignored unless they possess special characteristics valued by our society.

Hope none of you are selected to sit on his jury. Innocent until PROVEN guilty .... Too bad he doesn't manage an account of millions of dollars and is a well respected member of the community, or he could get "good press", plea deal, and probation. By the way, what ever happened to the Eastover Principal who was arrested for child sex offense of a 3 YEAR OLD GIRL?

Quote from article: "Investigators say the sexual encounters took place between July 27 and Aug. 8 at a residence where Holmes once lived."

He must have been living with the parent of the girl and was thrown out, or it could have been other relatives and she was a member of the household. He's charged with incest, so it had to be a family member. It could have been his own daughter. We will be giving him a home now. For how long, I don't know, but I do resent it.

I shoulda been a cowboy. Put a bounty on 'em & hang 'em in the street and people don't do this kind of thing as often.

There are some many things that should be done to this man besides giving him a warm bed, three square meals a day, and access to sunshine and a higher education. My ideas wouldn't cost a large amount either. How much does a bullet cost again?

Homeless, he should have been trying to find somewhere to stay instead trying to find a child to have sex with.
