Homeless man charged with setting house fire

Spring Lake police have charged a homeless man with setting fire to a house and two sheds earlier this week.

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A homeless man is accused of setting fire to a house and two sheds in Spring Lake earlier this week, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Ronnie Lee Roberts, 45, of Spring Lake, faces charges of first-degree arson, second-degree arson and setting fire to an uninhabited house.

No one was injured in the fires along North First Street.

Roberts was placed in the Cumberland County jail under an $80,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.

He was already on probation for felony burning a house and misdemeanor larceny convictions from 2010, state Department of Correction records show.
