Homeless man charged with setting house fire

Posted March 18, 2011

— A homeless man is accused of setting fire to a house and two sheds in Spring Lake earlier this week, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Ronnie Lee Roberts, 45, of Spring Lake, faces charges of first-degree arson, second-degree arson and setting fire to an uninhabited house.

No one was injured in the fires along North First Street.

Roberts was placed in the Cumberland County jail under an $80,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.

He was already on probation for felony burning a house and misdemeanor larceny convictions from 2010, state Department of Correction records show.

I see he is smiling in his photo - why- because he knows he will now have 3 hots and a cot paid for by the taxpayers of NC.
I am not saying this negatively because there are so many homeless people out there today really suffering. Do we really have concern for them- I would say yes - and if we don't our heart is not in the right place.

He's homeless, and now he's got a place to live for a short while... jail. He probably did it on purpose just for that reason.
