RALEIGH, N.C. — Along Glade Aster Court on Monday, parents were cautioning children and worried for their own safety after a 17-year-old girl was found naked and bound with duct tape inside her home.

The girl told emergency dispatchers that she tried to hide in a bathroom when two men she didn't recognize broke into her home with a gun. She tearfully described how the men found her, hit her over the head and raped her.

The teen's stepfather said he didn't see signs of forced entry, but it appeared someone had tried to disconnect his television. Nothing was stolen.

WRAL News is not naming the family to protect the girl's identity as a victim of sexual assault.

The incident Sunday is the third report of a break-in on that street so far this year, according to police records.

The girl's mother got a text Sunday just before 3:30 p.m. that said, "i am in the closet help." The mother said her daughter used voice-to-text technology to communicate.

“It’s horrifying," the mother said. "They took her clothes, and she’s in the closet. Nobody ever wants to walk in on their child like that. The tape was everywhere so I took the tape off and got her off the floor.”
The stepfather said there were no signs of forced entry and nothing was stolen from the home.

A woman who lives nearby said Monday she asked her granddaughter to be extra careful walking to the bus stop and to call once she was on board.

Police said the girl described the men as white and in their early to mid-20s, one tall with long, curly hair wearing a red hirt with a Dr. Pepper logo and the other a short man in a gray shirt.

They asked that anyone with information call law enforcement immediately.
