HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Police have charged a Holly Springs man with attempted murder after his 7-month-old son almost drowned in a bathtub.

Carlos Lamar Murray, 23, of 616 Guerin Road, also was charged with two counts of intentional child abuse. He was being held Friday in the Wake County jail under a $1 million bond.

According to an arrest warrant, Murray's son showed the symptoms of shaken-baby syndrome, including having both eyes almost swollen shut and bruising on the bridge of the nose. The boy also was allowed to slip underwater in the tub and inhale water, and Murray didn't try to help him, the warrant states.
