Holiday traffic and fender benders made for slow going Sunday afternoon though North Carolina, the state Highway Patrol said.

The right lane of southbound Interstate 95 was closed for most of the afternoon in Halifax County near milemarker 163, north of the Louisburg exit while crews cleared an overturned tractor trailer there.

Multiple wrecks were reported along I-95 in both directions near Lumberton. None of the wrecks yielded serious injuries, troopers said.

In Johnston County, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, traffic was heavy on Interstate 40 near Clayton, between milemarkers 308 and 310.

West of the Triangle, two lanes of northbound Interstate 85 were closed near Hillsborough, just before the intersections of I-40 and I-85.

No delays were reported at Raleigh-Durham or other major airports across the country. The weather across the the country was mostly chilly and clear.
