Holiday Express Update: If you have Saturday tickets, read this

As of right now (1:20 p.m., Dec. 13), Pullen Park's Holiday Express is not canceled for Saturday, but a chilly, rainy day is in the forecast and event organizers are making some alternate plans for Saturday ticket holders.

The second weekend of the sold out event runs 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Saturday and Sunday.

"It is our hope that we will be able to go tomorrow but, just in case, I still want our guests to enjoy the wonderful event," Richard Costello, amusements director, tells me.

So here is the official word, straight from Costello: 

"Due to unfavorable weather conditions, at this time PRCR [Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department] has made the decision to offer guests holding Saturday, Dec. 14, Holiday Express tickets the opportunity to attend on Friday, Dec. 13, or Sunday, Dec. 15. 

The Saturday, Dec. 14, Holiday Express has not been canceled at this time. A cancellation decision will be made by Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. The event will be cancelled only if weather severity affects safe operation of amusement rides. If the event is cancelled by PRCR, you may come on Sunday, Dec.15, 2013. PRCR will post the cancellation on our event voice mailbox (919-996-6468 press 2), send out media PSAs, and post it on our Park Status website. If the event is not cancelled by PRCR and you choose not to come, there will be no refund or credit provided.

Note: Amusement and activity wait lines may be longer.
