— A Hoke County woman has been charged with burning a child, authorities said Wednesday.

First Health Medical Pavilion staffers called Hoke County deputies on March 4 because a child was brought in with second- and third-degree burns that didn't appear to be an accident, authorities said.

Samantha Cummings, 30, of 497 Brewer Drive in Red Springs, was arrested Monday and charged with felony intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. She was being held in the Hoke County jail under a $200,000 bond.

Authorities didn't disclose how the child had been burned, the age or gender of the child or the relationship between Cummings and the child.

Better yet, inflict the exact same injuries on her as she did to this child and make sure she doesn't get any pain killers.
