DURHAM, N.C. — A driver who ran from the scene caused a five-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 40 West in Durham County around midnight Saturday, police said.

Police said that a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle near Exit 274 to N.C. Highway 751, and the driver of the first vehicle jumped out and ran. Three other vehicles then smacked into the wrecked vehicles.
