HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A Hillsborough sandwich shop will be closing shop.
The owners of Bona Fide Sandwich Co. in Hillsborough announced Tuesday that this week's lunch services would be their last. The restaurant opened at 104 N. Churton St. in March 2016.
"A great many things factor into a decision such as this one, some out of our control," owners Matt Fox and Dean James wrote. The two are the same team behind The Wooden Nickel Pub, LaPlace and Hillsborough BBQ Company.
"When one door closes, another opens, as they say. We know we're taking away one of your reliable daytime dining options here in downtown, so for the foreseeable future we'll be opening Wooden Nickel Pub for lunch services seven days a week, starting next week," they wrote.
Bona Fide was a finalist last year for a WRAL.com Voters Choice Award for best takeout.
