Hill Ridge Farms splash pad
Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsville has opened up its new Splash Pad.

The 50-by-50-foot play area offers a place to cool off during a trip to the farm as water is dumped and sprayed on you. Hill Ridge might be best known as a popular fall pumpkin patch destination, but the farm actually is open in the spring and summer as well. The complex also features a giant tunnel slide, train rides, hay rides, a jumping pillow and much more. It's a lot of fun.

Hill Ridge is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekends. The Splash Pad is free with admission. On Wednesdays, one adult gets in for free with every paid child admission. Admission is $7 for ages 2 to 12 and $5 for ages 13 and up.

The farm offers some shaded picnic areas. Coolers are allowed.

Jennifer Dunn, the events manager over at Hill Ridge, tells me that she encourages families to bring their swimsuits, towels and sunscreen. Restrooms are available for changing into dry clothes.

I hope to check it out next week!
