The 2017 season at Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsvile starts Saturday.

The popular outdoor venue with a giant tube slide, jumping pillow, hay rides, kiddie train, farm animals and, in the summer, a sprayground, is at 703 Tarboro Rd. in Youngsville, which is northeast of Raleigh not far from Wake Forest.

Jennifer Dunn, events manager, tells me that the farm's Welcome Wednesdays will continue this season. On Wednesdays, visitors get one free adult admission with each paid child's admission.

"We have found it to be a great day for moms to meet other local moms, especially if they are new to the area," Dunn tells me. "It has been great watching new friendships develop with both the kids and the adults."

This season, Hill Ridge also has a new large covered event shelter, which will provide more shade, seating and space for birthday parties.

"Our birthday parties sell out very quickly, so we are happy that we can now offer a few more spaces to our families," Dunn tells me.

And, there's a new "Slide House" attraction in the works. It will be a large, farm-themed playhouse with five slides and a silo.

Finally, in the animal corral, you can see three lambs, born this spring. And, pretty soon, there will be a baby goat on view.

Tickets for the spring and summer season are $8 for ages 2 to 12 and $6 for teens and adults. Hill Ridge's website has more information.
