— A 24-year veteran of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and a Fayetteville man were arrested at about 1 a.m. Saturday after a fight at a Cary bar, officials said.

Kenneth Ray Snead, 47, of 3347 Renaissance Park Place, Cary, was charged with resisting a public officer and being intoxicated in public.

According to Cary police, Snead, John Allen Lauby and a third man got into a fight inside World of Beer, at 2036 Renaissance Park Place, at about midnight.

When officers arrived, they separated Snead and Lauby in the parking lot of the bar. Neither man was cooperative, and it took three officers to subdue Snead, officials said.

Lauby, 46, of 517 Alliance Head Road, Fayetteville, was charged with carrying a concealed gun and being intoxicated and disruptive.

The third man involved in the fight fled the scene before police arrived. He has not been identified.

A spokesman for the Highway Patrol said Saturday that Snead, a First Sergeant assigned to the patrol's headquarters, has been placed on administrative duty following the arrest.

3rd paragraph states "got into a fight inside of World of Beer"... and they were separated "in the parking lot"--translation--fight started inside and then ended up outside.

He should absolutely be fired from his job as a trooper. He knew better. He is certainly not above the law and should have been arrested and charged.

I'm surprised posting is allowed here on this black-eye hypocrite article. It is far from the first time one sees cops (troopers, city, county, etc) partying up in a bar and fighting with someone. Seen this several times through out the years. Usually -- the cops let them go. Seen this happen twice - once in NY and once in Fla.

"When officers arrived, they separated Snead and Lauby in the parking lot of the bar."It does? Since when did the parking lot get moved to the inside of the bar?

Why not let the people go outside and have a clean fight? Just let them duke it out...the cops should just be there to make sure it doesnt get out of hand...man loses gets knocked out...man loses fight...cops tell other guy to walk away....issue resolved

Yep all of us are. Typical liberal response with no facts on a issue.

Wow! The article clearly states that they were fighting inside the bar. Here you are with all the facts and couldn't even get that right. Why should we listen to you?

Re-read the article. Lauby was *charged* with carrying a concealed weapon, it does not state that he has a license to carry concealed.

There is a just a *bit* of difference between the two.
