Week of warm weather could be marred by rain
Temperatures are expected to be warm for much of the work week, but outdoor plans may be hampered by the threat of rain.
Posted — UpdatedTemperatures on Monday rose to the upper 70s in Raleigh and are expected to be just as warm Tuesday, but a system that moves in overnight could mean a soggy start to the day.
WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said that the chance for showers and thunderstorms moves in after midnight and lingers through Tuesday afternoon.
Scattered showers are possible this week, especially on Tuesday, but Gardner said the precipitation will be isolated to only a few areas.
Temperatures will climb into the 80s on Wednesday and are expected cool down just a bit, in the upper 60ss, by the end of the work week, when a stronger chance for rain and storms takes effect.
A system that will bring severe weather to the plains will approach North Carolina on Friday, but WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said it will be in a weakened state by time it arrives.
"I think it will bring a wealth of rain, more than the one that's going to come into the area tomorrow," he said.
