RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake County deputy chased an Apex man who was driving "carelessly and erratically" from U.S. 401 onto Interstate 40 before the man wrecked on the ramp to Interstate 540 East shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

Savvas Konstantinos Auramidis, 22, of 1049 W. Sterlington Place, refused to stop for a deputy shortly after 6 p.m., and a chase began near the intersection of Brentwood Road and Capital Boulevard, said Wake County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens.

No one was injured.

Auramidis has been released from the Wake County jail after meeting a $25,000 secured bond.
