— A Wake County deputy chased an Apex man who was driving "carelessly and erratically" from U.S. 401 onto Interstate 40 before the man wrecked on the ramp to Interstate 540 East shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

Savvas Konstantinos Auramidis, 22, of 1049 W. Sterlington Place, refused to stop for a deputy shortly after 6 p.m., and a chase began near the intersection of Brentwood Road and Capital Boulevard, said Wake County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens.

No one was injured.

Auramidis has been released from the Wake County jail after meeting a $25,000 secured bond.

Since when did they start pulling over I-40 drivers who drive "carelessly and erratically"?

And, did Mr. Auramidis drive home from the police station?

    These are important questions!! ;-)

I saw the motorist fleeing and he made more dangerous lane changes then I could count. He was cutting people off left and right. It is amazing that no wrecks resulted from his actions. Twenty-five thousand dollars is a paltry sum for risking the lives of so many people.

Here again the bond was way too low of this type of crime. I'll also bet he will never be seen again, at least not for court.

......if they find a pair of those square shades in the car, then we'll know for sure. Everybody knows who the bad guys were in those 70's movies.....they had those bad-guy-square-shades on. ;)
